FEET
ON THE
ROCK
BIO
Born and raised in Porto (Portugal) I grew up with the music school as my second home. There I completed my classical studies in violin and piano, always being part of choirs and orchestras, while participating in an extra bunch of projects.

After finishing high school in Graphic Arts, I applied to study Architecture in Porto University, which I did for 3 years.
Meanwhile I was getting more and more involved in music projects, starting to study jazz, creating music with all sorts of community groups and meeting musicians with the most diverse backgrounds, until I realised that music - specially making music with people - was actually what moved me.

In 2013 I applied for the Music Leadership Masters at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, which made me pack my stuff and move to London, finally heading towards what I really wanted to do.
Since then my artistic practice has been focused on exploring multi-instrumental improvisation skills, collaborative composition processes, cross-arts performances as well as workshop leading in various settings. Additionally I’ve been playing with various free-improv ensembles and folk bands, as well as composing and creating new arrangements for Portuguese traditional songs.

Having finished my master degree and freelancing in a wide range of music projects, I was reaching the end of my third busy year in London when I got an exciting and unexpected proposal: spend a year setting up and leading creative music projects in Montserrat, a small island in the Caribbean sea, as part of a music programme of the Sir George Martin Foundation.
This time the decision was way easier to make and this is how far the story got to and why this blog was created.
Post by post, I’ll be sharing the projects and adventures that will fulfil my days on this beautiful rock.
