13. Strumming

With the end of the academic year, it came the time for the Ukulele Club to get together with the Adult Choir to have their own concert. Uncle’s place, a local bar with the best sunset view was the chosen place and it didn’t take much to be transformed into the perfect venue for our concert.

Although there was an unexpected power cut just one hour before the show, the audience came in with torches and a few minutes after the scheduled starting time, the lights went on again and we could start the concert.

The evening was fulfilled with a good selection of songs – from The Beatles to The Mamas & the Papas, from Billy Joel to the Dixie Cups. Some of the songs were easily recognised by the audience who was invited to sing along to some of the choruses. The performers had a good time showing off the songs they’ve practised throughout the whole year and I was really pleased with their performance.

Unfortunately Miguel couldn’t join the concert as he had to go be taken to the hospital on that afternoon due to an unexpected appendicitis. This not only made him unable to take part in the concert, but it also changed our travelling plans for this month. On the bright side of things, it gave us a few extra weeks to enjoy the island until he fully recovers.

Here's a few pictures of our last concert!
